Jeremy was born in Port Lavaca, Texas in 1971. He graduated from Calhoun High School there in 1990 and moved on
to college at Sam Houston State University. There, he earned a BA in English with Minors in Psychology and Political
Science. It was at SHSU that Jeremy also met his future wife, Joan. He graduated in 1995 and entered a teaching
career. Joan and Jeremy were married the same year.
In 1999, the Mauers moved to Arlington, where Jeremy first worked at Arlington Classics Academy. In 2000, he joined
Mansfield ISD as an English teacher at the Anderson Education Center. There, he was awarded an important grant from
the MISD Education Foundation ("Hooked on Books"). In 2001, he switched schools and departments, taking a social studies
position at Mansfield High School teaching Economics and Government. That year, he was named an Distinguished Educator
by MISD. Since that time, Jeremy continued to teach at Mansfield High, specializing in Psychology, Sociology and World
History. In 2006, he retired from teaching to pursue a Masters Degree in Political Science. Jeremy and Joan are expecting
the birth of their first child in March of 2007.
In his spare time, Jeremy enjoys computer gaming of all sorts, reading histories of Medieval Europe, and playing with
his cats, Loki and Raven.
